Living Willow Tunnel

A living willow tunnel commissioned by a Cheshire High School as part of a series of Creative Arts Projects which I lead, and which were undertaken with the Staff and Pupils. The tunnel also forms a part of the school's extensive restoration of their historical and extremely interesting gardens.

Over time the willow framework will sprout additional branches that can woven together to thicken and strengthen the tunnel producing an effect that will lead the garden visitor from one area into an entirely different part of the garden enhancing the sense of journey, arrival and surprise that the Head Gardener was trying to achieve in the overall garden design.

I am always happy to discuss ideas for living willow tunnels arbours and domes, which I can construct for you on site or which I can give you instruction to do it yourself!

Living willow can only be planted whilst it is dormant in the winter months.
